23 Weeks & SoCal Baby Shower!!!

23 Weeks: (6/26/11) "Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound, you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb. Baby's little face is fully formed...minus the baby fat, of course. The next task at hand for baby: sprouting two teeny-tiny nipples!"

UPDATES This week was amazing!  We had such a beautiful baby shower and fun time with family on this trip!!!  Thanks so much to my sister for planning, decorating, and thinking up every little detail for our shower. I love you!  It was so great seeing all my cousins, aunts, and friends on that day! The chocolate cake with chocolate chip ice cream from Baskin Robbins was a HUGE hit, and the games were really fun.  :)  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.  We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather, and the delicious bbq was amazing!

Seeing my nephews, Jackson and Jacob, was a huge highlight!  They were SO sweet to Logan in my tummy, and would talk to him and pat my tummy to make sure he was happy!  Jacob's quote of the weekend was, "Daddy, when will Logan be here tomorrow during the shower?" :)  He thought that a baby shower meant the baby was coming that DAY! Jackson was also very excited to start planning what kind of Lego Duplo set he was going to get Logan for his 1st birthday.  He would also talk to my belly and say, "Hi Logan, you're going to love Legos when you come out!" :) They were both so loving and so excited for their future little cousin and were such big helpers when it came to the finishing decorating touches for the shower!

Kevin and I also had a great time at Disneyland and going on all the "pregnant-friendly rides". :)  It was much more mellow and slow paced than what we would normally do, but we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed ourselves!  We had dinner at the Blue Bayou restaurant inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, ate all kinds of goodies throughout the day, and found as much shade as possible for little breaks here and there! What an amazing vacation!!!!

HIGHLIGHTKevin felt Logan kick for the first time on Saturday, the 25th, after our baby shower! :)  I had been feeling Logan for a couple of weeks, but Kevin still wasn't able to feel him.  We had just gone upstairs after everyone left, and laid down on the bed to relax.  I felt Logan moving a lot, so I told Kevin to put his hand on my belly.  Kevin was so sweet and started talking to Logan, when out of nowhere, he kicked REALLY hard! Kevin was SO excited to feel him!!! It was a really great moment. :)

22 Weeks & Father's Day!

22 Weeks: (6/19/11) "Baby's now the size of a papaya- about 11 inches long and almost a pound! Baby's settling into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.  His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.

LOGAN UPDATE:  Mr. Logan has been an active little man this week.  I've finally felt him moving and kicking this week!  I wasn't sure before, but now, I'm positive. :)  I feel him most in the morning, between 8:30-10am, and in the evening around 7pm.  It's such a cool feeling!  I can't wait for the kicking to get stronger so that Kevin can feel him too!

Cravings:  I'm still obsessed with fruit! I made a huge fruit salad with watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, and strawberries! MMM!  I've also been eating grapefruit and mangos still. :)  The weather has been SOOO HOT here (mid to high 80's) everyday that I can't help to crave popsicles and ice cream like crazy!  My latest ice cream flavor is cookies and cream.  I'm going to have an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins for my So Cal shower next weekend, which I can't stop thinking about! :)

* Highlight:  KEVIN'S FIRST FATHER'S DAY! *
We had planned a couple of months ago to celebrate Father's Day by going camping along the river.  We booked our perfect site, bought a HUGE new tent, and planned all the snacks we were going to bring. Unfortunately, we couldn't go this year because there was a pretty large thunderstorm that decided to sit over our campground- complete with hail and lightning in certain areas.  Not very safe camping weather. :(  Maybe it was the hormones, but I was SO upset! Way more than my dad and Kevin were.  I just wanted this Father's Day to be special for the both of them, and I wasn't sure if we could still have a good day.

On a positive note, Kevin LOVED his Father's Day gifts from Logan and Bailey. :)  He got a Daddy picture frame with Logan's ultrasound picture for his office, clothes, a new bathing suit, a "New Dad" book, and a Daddy Tool Kit to help him with the fun task of changing diapers in a few months! :)  I got my dad 2 cards- one from me, and one from Logan!  I also got him a Laker's shirt, and made him a scrapbooked picture of Logan to put in his room. He loved it!

  • After presents, we all ended up having a wonderful breakfast on the patio of Collindale Golf Course, then went to see Pirates of the Carribean afterwards.  We also had Wahoo's for lunch-which was delicious!  The day turned out really great, even though we didn't go camping. :)

21 Weeks/ Summer Break!

21 Weeks: (6/12/11) "Baby's now the size of a banana!  You may soon feel like he's practicing martial arts as his initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to his activity as you get to know him better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.
UPDATE:  Friday was my last day of work for 6 whole weeks!!!! This is the best part about working for the school district fo sure!  I spent most of the week cleaning the house, going grocery shopping, and shopping for Kevin and my dad's Father's Day presents.  I thought I would be SO bored being at home, but the week actually flew by!  I did treat myself to a prenantal massage, which was AMAZING! I felt like a new lady!!  Kevin and I also took Bailey for her annual vet check-up on Thursday. We also watched our friends' dog, Remi, this week while they were in Alaska!  Bailey and Remi had a great time playing all week.  They got along really great.  I'm sure Bailey is going to be really bummed when Remi gets picked up tomorrow.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Thanks to Logan's Nana and Papa Welch, we bought Logan's stroller and it got delivered on Friday!  We did a ton of research and decided on the Jeep Liberty Sport X All Terrain stroller!  We were going to go with a much more expensive jogging stroller, but in reality, I'm probably NEVER going to be jogging with Logan.  We loved the all terrain wheels on the Jeep stoller since we do go on walking trails and camping.  The price was also a BIG decision maker since it was the least expensive all terrain stroller that still got a great safety and consumer reports rating.  Kevin got SO excited when it came that he had to put it together right away! Not sure what we're going to do with it until the baby comes, but it sure does look cute! :)

  •  Yesterday (Saturday), my dad, Kevin, and I all went to the Colorado Rapids soccer game in Denver!  We had bought my dad tickets to the game for Christmas, along with a Rapids t-shirt!  We had dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory before the game.  Logan was very excited about the yummy Italian food! mmm!  We had a great time at the game!!! They were playing the LA Galaxy, but Beckham didn't play, so we were all a little bummed.  We had great seats, and I got to enjoy a BIG lemonade and a pretzel as my after dinner snack, while Kevin and my dad drank beer. :)  Kevin bought Logan a little Rapids fox mascot stuffed animal for his room! Very cute!!!

20 Weeks! (Halfway There!) & 3rd Ultrasound

20 Weeks:  (6/5/11) "Baby's now the size of a cantelope! Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel.  He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion.

Little Logan:  We had our BIG 20 week ultrasound on Monday!  Logan really put on a show and was moving around the entire time. At one point, he looked like he was doing karate chops, and later on it looked like he was praying. :)  He weighs 14 oz. and has 10 fingers and 10 toes from what we could see on the screen. His heartbeat was 140 and we got to see the technician take pictures of his brain, spine, femers, and heart.  It was really cool! He's a little person already!!! The technician said he was such a fun baby to take "pictures" of. We were very proud parents! :)

Cody's Baptism & Our Baby Shower!

18 Weeks:  (5/22/11) "Baby's now the size of a sweet potato!  Baby's become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby is finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel his movements."
UPDATE:  Our trip to San Jose was short, but sweet. :)  It started off a little rocky with our flight being delayed, but we arrived safely at 11pm and headed straight for In-N-Out! MMM!!! I'd been craving it for so long and since we don't have them in CO, I couldn't wait!

On Saturday morning (5/21), we headed to Sabrina and Matt's house to see our little Cody before his baptism! We had ordered him a personalized fire truck ride-on toy for his baptism present and couldn't wait for him to see it! He has awhile until he can ride it by himself, but he looked SO cute sitting on it with a little help from his mommy. :)

Kevin and I were worried that he wouldn't remember us and not want us to hold him, but luckily he did just fine.  He loved being up high when his Uncle Kevin held him, and he was pretty much in love with me the whole trip! It made me melt!!! He was such a happy little guy and did such an awesome job the entire weekend. <3
Cody's baptism was held at St. Christopher's, where both Kevin and Sabrina went to school! It was a beautiful church and we were all very excited to be there.  Especially Kevin and I since we were his Godparents! The only downside is that the baptism landed right in the middle of Cody's naptime, so he was asleep pretty much the whole time! It was really sweet, until it was his turn to get baptised and the priest POURED 3 cups of water on his little head. He was NOT happy! :(  It was a pretty startling way to be woken up. Poor little guy! But he calmed down fast and did great!

BABY SHOWER:  Our baby shower was on Sunday, 5/22 at Sabrina and Matt's house. :)  It was a beautiful day!  Matt and Jorge were the cooks and we had some delicious bbq'd burgers and hot dogs on Matt's new grill! Everyone wanted to bring food, so we had a table full of fruit, deviled eggs, chips, 7 layer dip, home made baked beans, potato salad and spinach artichoke dip! mmm! Sabrina also bought us a beautiful chocolate buttermilk cake with raspberry filling and chocolate buttercream frosting! It was AMAZING! We loved chatting with everyone and catching up! Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to open up presents at the party since we had to leave for the airport at 3:45pm, but we had so much fun opening up everything while we packed our luggage!
